Nigeria Tam Tam: ACN Lagos Rally holds at TBS

The Lagos chapter of Action Congress of Nigeria officially kicked-off the state campaign activities with a well attended rally at the Tafa Balewa Square on saturday 5th March 2010. The rally was attended by several top members of the ACN including the state executives led by the chairman – Chief Dele Ajomale as well as the party’s national leaders. The event was billed to start at 10am but started a little later around 12 noon due to the large turn out of party members and their supporters.

ACN National Presidentail Candidate – Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, Vice Presedential Candidate Fola Adeola and ACN National Chairman, Chief Bisi Akande National chairman Chief Bisi Akande, the publicity secretary – Alhaji Lai Mohammed and Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu led the national delegation to the rally to galvanize support for the re-election of Governor Babatunde Raji Fashola. The arrival of Governor Fashola with the the ACN presidential flag bearer Mallam Nuhu Ribabu sparked off wild celebration by the audience with people signing songs for ACN. The duo of Governor Fashola and Mallam Nuhu Ribadu went round the Tafa Balewa Square greeting and energizing the crowd before taking their seats.

The Lagos ACN Chairman, kicked off the event by inviting all the party’s flag bearers in Lagos state for state assemble, federal house and federal senate to mount the podium in order to be issued the party’s flag – a symbol of the official recognition as the party’s candidate in the 2011 general election.

Governor Fashola and Asiwaju Bola Ahmed TinubuThe presidential and vice presidential flag bearers – Mallam Ribadu and Mr Adeola addressed the crowd extolling the achievements of Governor Fashola in Lagos. Mallam Ribadu said “I worked in Lagos state as an officer at Adeniji Adele and Apapa and i can tell you that i have see the changes in Lagos! Lagos is changing for the better and will will do the same for Nigeria”. The leader of the party Asiwaju Bola Tinubu energized the crowd with his statements on the benefits of the ACN in Lagos and the need to vote the ruling party out of office in the April elections.

Governor Fashola thanked the citizens of Lagos for their resolute support for his government and the ACN. He promised that if re-elected, he will reinvigorate efforts in developing Lagos further to meet the needs and yearnings of the people.
The party also welcomed new members to the party from other parties from 13 local governments across the state. Flags were presented to various flagbearers including Ganiyu Solomon, Gbenga Asafa, Abike Dabiri, and Mrs Oluremi Tinubu and others.
